WYHA Community Service Projects

Giving back through WYHA

Let's face it. Our kids have things pretty darn good. At WYHA, we like to encourage our players and their families to give back throughout the year. We're glad our coaches agree.

Here are some efforts our teams have been involved in recently:

Bantam Minor '03 Storm

03 Storm did some volunteer work this past Tuesday, 12/13. They worked with a company called "Making Spirits Bright" and
assisted with wrapping 1400 gifts for 40 different families in need.
Bantam Major

The boys teamed up to cook a Thanksgiving dinner for a family in need living in Rochester. The team shopped and prepped the meal for 12, then about half delivered the food to a very grateful family who was actually hosting others in need. Thank you, boys, for a job well done!

Girls U19

On Saturday, November 19, members of the team and several parents participated in a Mobile Pack event for Feed My Starving Children at the Lakeshore Community Church. The team packed a total of 34 cases, which contained 7,344 meals. That is enough to feed 20 children for an entire year! Kudos on your efforts, girls!

Calling all WYHA families

A current effort to get involved with is Making Spirits Bright, which adopts families over the holidays... providing them with food, necessities and gifts.

This year they're assisting 40 families (21 from the Webster area). Your family can donate an item or two, or help wrap gifts at the community wrapping party on Tuesday, December 13 (teams are welcome, too).

Here's a link to the list of items still needed. Just add your name next to anything you'd like to purchase and contact organizer, Jamie Buss, to schedule a time to drop things off.
