Team Fundraising

Team Fundraising

Fundraising can be a great way to offset team expenses throughout the season. While fundraising is optional, many teams choose to host one or two events to help reduce costs for families and support activities that enhance the team experience.

Every team is different, so it's important to establish your goals early and communicate clearly with families about how any funds raised will be used.

Planning Your Team Budget

Before launching a fundraiser, meet with your Head Coach and Team Treasurer (if applicable) to discuss your team's anticipated expenses and determine whether fundraising is necessary.

Common team expenses may include:

  • Tournament entry fees
  • Team dinners or events
  • Coach gifts
  • End-of-season banquet or party
  • Team-building activities
  • Miscellaneous team supplies

Our Team Budget Template is available to help you estimate expenses, track income and expenses, and stay organized throughout the season.

Fundraising Ideas

Looking for inspiration? Here are a few fundraising ideas that have worked well for youth sports teams:

  • Restaurant fundraising nights
  • Basket raffles
  • Bottle & can drives
  • Golf tournaments
  • Local business sponsorships
  • Online auctions
  • Community events
  • Meat raffle
  • Team merchandise or apparel (when permitted)

Choose one or two fundraisers that fit your team's goals rather than trying to do too many throughout the season.

Team Sponsorships

Sponsorships & Donations

Local business sponsorships and donations can be a great way to help offset team expenses throughout the season.

If your team plans to seek sponsorships, please coordinate with the organization first to help avoid conflicts with existing Cyclones Hockey Club or WYHA sponsors.

Sponsors may be recognized in a variety of ways, including:

  • Public thank-you posts on your team's Crossbar Team Feed.
  • Team banners (at the team's expense) displayed during games or team events, where permitted.

Please note that advertising or sponsor logos may not be displayed on team game jerseys.

If you have questions regarding sponsorships or appropriate sponsor recognition, please contact a Board member before moving forward.
